As modern society searches around for alternative energy sources, wind farms are getting mention. There are, however, limitations regarding wind farms as major energy alternatives.

Wind Farms Limitations as Energy Platforms

Wind power is an enticing energy platform compared to carbon-based fuels. The method works by trying the basic energy in wind as a technique for manufacturing electricity. The methodology is very similar to hydropower, but with wind used in the place of water. Air turbines catch the wind, which turns their blades. This turning motion cranks a generator that produces electricity. The electricity is placed in batteries or fed into the electric grid of a use. Walla, you have power!

Using wind power for localized needs has been around for a long time. The Persians are believed to be the first to use it with the purpose being to turn grain grinding stones. In modern times, the sole purpose is to generate electricity. On a large scale, this means wind farms.

Wind farms are simply enormous collections of air turbines in an outlined area. If you’ve ever driven east out of San Francisco, you have witnessed the wind farm along the freeway. Even though it is both exhilarating and a pollution free source of electricity, a wind farm has definite restrictions.

The largest limitation of wind farms is the electricity produced. In simple terms they don’t produce huge amounts, definitely not on the scale required in most towns in industrialized countries. Manifestly , each location is dissimilar, but wind is just not a continuing occurrence in most places. Even if it is, the quantity of turbines required to provide sufficient energy for a town is mind astounding. This, naturally, leads to a second limitation.

Wind farms need to cover a lot of physical space to produce large amounts of electricity. In many industrialized countries, space is at a premium. As a result, the sheer cost of purchasing land for wind farms is prohibitive. This issue, however, is losing some of its grit as offshore wind farms are becoming more prevalent.

To some, one of the constraints of wind farms is they’re eyesores. Personally, I believe they’re hypnotizing and have a creative appearance. Others definitely don’t agree. The Cape Wind offshore wind farm project has met up with large resistance for just this reason.

The constraints of wind farms are reasonably serious at about that point in time. As technology and new approaches , for example offshore wind farms, come to the forefront, these issues may fall the wayside.

With more than a few billion people inhabiting the earth the need to find enough power to meet the changing and growing needs of this huge population calls for some very serious effort. With more and more emphasis being placed on the Western model of living it is not surprising that energy needs are not only required in greater numbers, but it is also depleting the already limited resources available to man.

Space the final Frontier May Hold the Answer for Future Wants

Space solar energy projects might be the solution to providing humanity with energy that right now is in spades in space. What will occur in the distant future is anyone’s guess, but it does present an ecological and cost-effective energy resource right now. It should also give occasion to market better technologies and will actually further the prospects of future space settlement by humans.

The space solar power project is not such a novel idea as it has been studied from as far back as 1881 when the Nikola Test attempted to show that long-distance wireless power transmission over the earth’s surface was indeed feasible. Given the fact that space abounds with energy, it is only a question of time and considerable concerted effort before space solar power projects become reality.

The elemental principal driving space solar electricity projects would involve satellites positioned in geosynchronous orbit that might collect the sun’s energy and change it into radio waves that might be beamed to an earth based receiving site. On the ground, an antenna could then convert the radio waves into electricity to power our energy wishes.

At present, such ideas in space solar energy projects are being aired and the target is to reach out to the environmental community to propagate info on space solar power projects and supply a chance to chat about its various arguments. It should definitely throw up many engaging suggestions that would permit humankind to find an alternative as well as abounding energy source to meet the present wishes as well as those of the future.

On the ground, currently the U.S. Dept of Energy has 1,000,000 Solar Roofs Initiative that’s ambitious as also possible that should meet America’s long-term energy wishes and it is suggested that solar electricity systems to the tune of 1,000,000 should be installed in buildings across the US by the end of this decade.

There is thus reason to be optimistic about future solar power projects being able to cope with energy requirements, and with space based projects, they should also help to preserve the earth’s fragile biosphere.

Copyright 2006 Dr Phil Hariram

The theory behind using a powerful magnetic field to improve fuel burn in combustion engines is nothing new. Magnetic fields were use to improve the combustion of fuel as early as 1940s. The US air force used magnets on their Mustang aircraft and produced greater range and performance from poor quality fuel. In 1952, Felix Bloch and Edward Mills Purcell were jointly awarded a Nobel Prize for their work on magnetic fields on solid, liquid and gas substances.

There are three ways magnets save energy and fuel.

Attach a magnet to the fuel lead pipe of your burner. The magnet conditions the fuel allowing bigger combustion. This occurs immediately. You produce more heat for an identical quantity of fuel and damaging emission is cut. I have Calorgas ( Liquid Petrol Gas ) central heating. Since attaching a magnet, my direct debit has been cut by 110%. If your boiler is old and wasteful, rather than purchasing a new boiler, try a magnet first.

In addition the cleaner burn implies that the boiler will need less servicing and lasts better. If your boiler is efficient, then the benefit will be less. You can’t create energy in a chemical reaction. Magnets permit as near to one hundred pc combustion. Rather than purchasing a costly new boiler, fasten a magnet.

Attach a magnet to the fuel feed of your car and your save fuel, energy and reduce emission. The magnet improves combustion. This produces better mpg, more power and a smoother running engine.

In 1992, The Warren Springs Labs , the United Kingdom Presidency DTI’s own auto testing office, were commissioned to do in depth trials on the advantages of magnetic fuel on motor automobiles and were very stunned by the result. Their 16-page detailed report confirmed increased power, improved fuel usage and a decrease in damaging emissions.

If your auto’s old with poor emission levels, the magnet will slowly clean the engine. So at first the emission will be higher than predicted but at last the level will drop seriously. A chum of mine tows a caravan with his Peugeot 2L HDi Partner Quicksilver. Since attaching a magnet his miles per gallon has jumped up another ten miles per gallon. Routinely you would expect about 10% improvement.

Magnets stop and reduce lime scale. Lime scale forms as the solubility of calcium carbonate decreases with increased temperature. As calcium carbonate separates out, lime scale is formed.

Lime scale has effects on heat transfer. A layer of calcium carbonate 25mm. Thick can decrease heat transfer by 95% and a 0.5mm layer of silica causes a decrease of ninety percent. Additionally if lime scale collects on the heating component in your hot water tank, the component won’t last long. Lime scale causes issues in washing machines.

If a magnet is attached at an angle vertical to the flow of water, it stops the lime scale deposits and breaks down the deposited lime scale. Nobody knows precisely why this occurs but the magnet keeps calcium and magnesium in solution and stops them separating out and manufacturing lime scale. It also lowers surface tension and stabilises pH. The magnetized water will shield your washer but won’t stop lime scales in your kettle. This is as the magnetic effect is neutralised when the kettle is boiled.

So there you have it. With fuel prices going upwards at regular intervals, attach a magnet to your boiler, your water system and your car and save energy, save fuel, save money, reduce emission and prolong the life of your boiler and car.

With global warming a major current issue, it is up to all of us to do our bit. In Germany, if your boiler emission level is too high, your pay a fine. One day it will come to Britain and USA. If you have emission problem, a magnet will quickly solve it. The right magnet will keep its magnetic properties for 100 years and you take it with you when you move home or change cars. It needs no maintenance. You just simply forget about it.

Energy use has become THE hot issue. As the price for gas and home heating oil climb into the atmosphere, lots of people are praying for relief. Does the executive provide that relief?

In his recent State of the Union address, President Bush declared that the United States is”addicted to oil.” Lots of people thought that signaled a new push by the Bush administration to address the issues of how we’re going to keep the lights on and the cars rolling in the 21st century. Unfortunately, those hopes largely fizzled after the speech when no new initiative or programs were actually put into motion.

Many state lawmakers, impatient with the federal government’s slow to non-existent response to our “addiction” to oil, have begun to take things into their own hands.

State judiciary, many from supposed Democratic “blue” states, have started passing rules for power plant and vehicle emissions. They are also needing some energy to be made by replaceable techniques like wind and solar. Energy potency necessities for home gadgets are also being debated.

So far, the government has been pleased to let the state legislatures pick up the slack on green issues. “I don’t see something wrong with the states being involved,” commented Senator Pete Domenici ( R-N.M. ), who is at present head honcho of the Fed Energy and resources Committee.

While some disagree that state rules won’t have an impact nationally on greenhouse gas emissions, others say that if the requirements are implemented in enough states there’ll be a serious impact. And is looks like states ARE having an impact, even if global temperature rises has not come to a sudden stop. One or two makers have adopted new countrywide rules to avoid needing to customise products for each state.

“If we won’t get the central government to act, then we have to do something in any way we can,” asserted Gina McCarthy, the commissioner of the Dept of Environmental Protection in Connecticut.

Let’s just hope all this reduces down to better costs for patrons.

Doubtless you are heard lots about solar energy but always thought it was too dear, except for minor uses in the now well-liked garden lighting systems. with fuel costs climbing and solar cells getting more reasonable, adding solar energy to your house is a great, long-term solution to high energy bills.

That isn’t to assert they’re inexpensive. Before deductions, it typically takes twelve or more years for a homeowner to make their investment in solar panels back. That is much longer than the typical person is ready to attend. many states now offer rebates, so that the last cost to the house owner is far less than it use to be. The repayments alter from state to state, so it’s not possible to assert what proportion of an impact they have overall. There might also be Fed motivations.

Solar panels are also gradually getting more efficient. They produce more energy than they used to. They need comparatively small upkeep, plenty of which you could be able to do yourself. This helps to make them extremely inexpensive.

Solar energy is not just for making electricity. You may use it warm the water for your pool or heat your house. There are lots of options available for people that are interesting in building an energy saving home without having to sacrifice comfort.

Solar power is much less expensive than it used to be, as costs have fallen by ninety percent since the 1970s. That doesn’t make it cheaply – yet! – to install enough photovoltaic cells to power a place, but in some areas the motivations given to install solar cells cuts the general cost to the house owner about in half.

To decide if solar power is suitable for you, take some basic figures into consideration.

Check your energy usage. You have to know how enormous a system you’ll need to power your house. Ensure you think about your greatest consumption levels and the chance that it’ll grow somewhat.

Find out how much a photovoltaic system to meet your need will cost. The size will rely both on your energy need and on the available daylight ( solar resource ) in your neighborhood.

Find out what rebates and incentives are available to you to help decrease your costs.

Consider whether your system will be on the grid or off. On the grid has the advantage that you can sell when you have an excess and buy electricity when you don’t have enough, while with an off the grid system you have a battery to store your excess.

Consider what the environmental benefits are worth to you. This is a personal factor rather than a direct economic one. It won’t save you money, but knowing that you are contributing a little less to pollution might change how you feel about the expense.

Choosing to use solar electricity in your house is an investment you can appreciate on many levels. Over a few years it’ll save your money as you generate environmentally friendly energy. It is not inexpensive to start, but when you mix the ecological benefits with decreasing your dependence on fuel costs you can definitely appreciate the chances.

If you would like to install solar air space heating, you must be aware that there are one or two different steps that are going to be concerned here. You can install solar air space heating all on your own, but you’re going to must know what you do before you start, or you are bound to finish up with issues.

The Process

Before you even get started on this process, you should learn more about solar air space heating, what it is and why you would want it installed in your home. There is passive and active solar energy, and so this is one of the first decisions that you are going to make, is which of these you want to have for your home.

Now after you have learned more about solar heating, which is very eco-friendly, you are going to have to learn about how you can install it. First you will have to calculate out how much system you are going to need for heating your space. Obviously then the larger the home, the more you are going to need.

Make sure that you do not base your calculations on the coldest or the system is going to end up being oversized for most of the year. Instead do averages, this way it will work out the best.

Now to install solar air space heating in your home, decide how many collectors you are going to need, and then determine the different types of collectors that are available and figure out which of these is going to work best for your application. Now after this, you are going to need to position your collectors.

You want to get the most from your collectors that you possibly can, and this means pointing them towards the equator, so they are always going to be able to collect the maximum amount of solar energy.

Now you need to install the electrical air circulating fans for your solar air space heating, and remember that there are precise fans that are made for solar space heating systems and so you’re going to need to use these and not just any old sort of fan that you suspect may work.

As you can see the steps are very few and easy to follow, so you don’t necessarily have to get a professional to come in and do the job for you and instead can do it all on your own.

The benefits of a solar panel heating system are truly stupendous. Anyone who is not aware of this is really missing out because there is no better time to have a passive or active solar heating system installed in your home than now. Before you go ahead with a solar panel heating system however, there are a few things that you are going to want to learn more about.

Why Install it?

Why on Earth would someone wish to install a solar cell heating system in their home? There are lots of reasons in truth. Installing solar heating in houses has considerable ecological advantages and as well decreases the CO2 emissions due to burning ordinary fuels. So it’s a superb way to make your house more green and know that you aren’t going to be doing any farther damage to the world around you.

Benefits

Besides the environmental benefits, there are also many others that you will want to be aware of before installing one of these systems in your own home. There is the cost-effectiveness for one, and although you will have to shell out a bit of money initially to get the system going, it will more than pay itself off in the long run.

These systems are astonishingly trustworthy and sturdy, and will last you a life-time so long as they’ve been installed properly.

As well, they take up little space in the home. A normal system for a family of four will need less than forty to eighty sq. feet of unobstructed southern exposure which is little room in the slightest. So do not think that you have got to employ a whole basement or other area simply to have the solar heating system installed in your house because that’s definitely not right.

Care and Upkeep

When it comes to the care and maintenance of a solar panel heating system, there is going to be very little to none that you are going to have to be concerned with. In fact, other than a change of anti-freeze every couple of years, there is pretty much nothing else that you are going to have to be concerned with.

It is straightforward to understand why installing a solar energy panel heating system in your house is going to be such a neat idea and why it is something you should definitely be thinking seriously about.

The topic of solar hot air heating versus fossil fuels is one that everyone in this world should be aware of today. After all, with incredibly important issues such as global warming facing us now, there is no better time than the present to realize what solar hot air heating is and what sort of benefits it can offer us.

Solar Hot Air Heating Versus Fossil Fuels

Solar energy is a great alternative to fossil fuels, and for a few different reasons. Solar energy is able to play a key role in creating a clean, reliable energy future for the world. The benefits are many and varied, and you will really not even be able to be aware of all the different benefits until you actually have solar forced air heating in your home.

To start off you must know the combustion of traditional fuels releases more than six bln tons of carbon into the atmosphere each year. So what does this result in? Well this alone is in charge of some different vital issues like the undeniable fact that our seasons are becoming different aka global warming, and that our planets are out of strike.

Solar energy is a great alternative as it is clean energy for one. There are no harmful Carbon emissions that are being released into the atmosphere and nothing dangerous for us to respire in. In reality, even when the emissions related to solar cell producing are counted, it produces less than fifteen % of the CO2 from a traditional coal-fired power plant, which is monstrous if you consider it.

Another huge advantage of the solar hot air heating is that it uses less naturally occuring resources than conventional power sources. Using power from the daylight which is the main natural resource in the world that’s always widely available and unlimited, can replace the utilization of stored energy in resources including petrol, natural gas and coal.

It is fairly simple to grasp why we should all be becoming more knowledgeable about solar hot air heating and what advantages it offers not only us but the world around us. The issue is that people don’t take some time to become more educated on this subject and as a consequence don’t realize just how simple the method of making the switch can be. There are no large jobs concerned, just you making the choice to do so.

There are very few people around today who have not at least heard of solar power before. This is an alternative heating method that offers so many benefits you are sure to be astounded. If you like the sounds of saving money and doing what you can for the environment, then this is one opportunity that you are definitely not going to want to miss out on.

By installing a solar power heating system in your home, which by the way is a very quick and relatively easy procedure, you will notice the benefits almost immediately. You will have to pay out a bit of money initially to get the parts for the solar power heating system and get it up and running in your home, but soon after it will have more than paid itself off.

Cost

One of the most major benefits that you will be getting by having a solar power heating system in your home is the cost-effectiveness. Whereas right now every time you turn on the heat or air conditioning you are paying an arm and a leg, with a solar power heating system you know that you are saving a ton of money.

The cash that you save on your monthly resources is truly going to be superb, but you must understand at the same time that there is way more to it than that.

Look

One of the most significant reasons that house owners keep away from solar energy heating systems is perhaps because they suspect that they’re going to make their home look appalling. This truly shouldn’t be of major concern anyhow, but naturally we all desire our homes to look nice. With a solar energy panel heating system, it’ll generally be integrated into the roof itself and so you won’t even be ready to notice it.

This is a strategy of installation which gives the householder the appearance of a high quality, opaque, glass skylight which is actually something beautiful.

In conditions of upkeep of the solar energy heating system, there’ll be tiny to none that you’re going to be forced to stress about. The Glycol based systems will need a change in the anti-freeze each 3 to 5 years or so, but aside from this, there’s just about nothing else that you’re going to be forced to do to look after the solar energy heating system.

Solar panel renewable energy and solar wind renewable energy as well for that matter are things that you should definitely concern yourself with if you have not already. Especially in the world we live in today where there are such urgent environmental issues that we are dealing with, there is really no better time than now to make the switch to solar energy and take advantage of all that solar panel renewable energy has to offer.

How They Work

To truly be in a position to milk all that solar cell clean energy has to offer, step one naturally is to find out more about the solar energy panels and what they actually do, how they work to supply the solar cell replenish-able energy in the 1st place. This is a variety of panel that contains photovoltaic cells, so it is in a position to basically capture the energy that’s given off from the sun, even if the sun isn’t shining though there wouldn’t be the maximum amount of it in that case, and then you may use this energy with other appliances and transfer it into thermal or electric energy so you could use it to claim, heat your pool or power your lights in the yard.

There are some differing kinds of solar panels that you can get to use, and they change in price also. It actually relies on what you’re going to be using the solar cell for, and how enormous it has to be.

You should take a little time to look around to see where you can get the top deal on solar energy panels, particularly if you’re planning on purchasing a few of them because then you’re not going to be splashing cash simply to get the gear you need. There are some great stores out there that you will find all of the solar power hardware you need, and there may be people there who are way more educated and who are going to be prepared to come in and hook the system up for you.

There are certainly some great advantages that solar panel renewable energy has to offer, and there is no better time than now to take advantage of it. Sure you are benefiting the environment and that is major, but you are also doing a huge advantage to yourself here by using solar energy.
