Nissan Increases Recycling Effort

Car manufacturers in recent years have become more environment friendly than they were before. This is because of the growing awareness in the global community which urges every sector to contribute to the protection of the environment. That is why clean cars have been developed to reduce the damage they caused to the environment.

Aside from developing these so-called green cars, car companies such as the Nissan Motor Company are looking for other ways to help the environment. In the case of the Japanese car manufacturer, they have created the Nissan Green Program 2010 which includes the steps that they are going to take to help the environment. The said program involves the production of fuel-efficient cars such as a three-liter car or a car that can run for a hundred kilometers on only three liters of gasoline. Aside from steps such as that, the program also includes the recycling of used cars.

Recently, the third largest Japanese car manufacturer disclosed information to the public of their progress in vehicle recycling. While the Nissan Green Program sets objectives to be accomplished by the year 2010, the company announced that they have already met one of their goals as early as the current year 2007. This is in the recycling of used cars. The recycling effort exerted by Nissan is in connection with the Japan Automobile Recycling Law which was enacted on January 1, 2005. The report made public by Nissan covered three different aspects of vehicle recycling. These three aspects are in the recycling of ASRs or Automobile Shredder Residues; airbag-related components; and fluorocarbons.

In the Nissan Green Program 2010, it is the company’s goal to recycle 95 percent of the used vehicles by the year 2010. The company is ahead of the legislation in Japan which will enforce the 85 percent recovery rate of used cars in terms of recycling by the year 2015. This shows how the company is concerned about the state of the environment. For the past year, Nissan reported that they have recycled 95,240.3 tons from 128,827.9 tons of ASR recovered. That amount of ASR is the product of shredding 635,440 vehicles. The figures show a recovery rate of 73.9 percent and that is higher than the 70 percent enforced by the law. In fact, this means that the company is already meeting government standards nine years before it will be enforced.

Meanwhile, the effective recycling recovery rate that Nissan reported is at 95.2 percent. This is a bit higher than the 95 percent that they have set to accomplish by the year 2010. Four years before the deadline, Nissan has already achieved one of their goals and it is a matter of refining the technologies they use to bring the effective recycling recovery rate to higher levels. This means that the residues from shredding various auto components such as Nissan fenders, hood, door panels, and other metallic and plastic parts are used by Nissan on new cars eliminating the need to deplete natural resources to create new components. Aside from these auto parts shredded, ASR also includes potentially harmful substances such as lead, cadmium and PCBs or Polychlorinated biphenyls. The proper recovery, handling and possible recycling of these substances is of utmost importance to protect the environment.

In terms of recycling airbag related components, Nissan reported that they have received 439,526 airbag related components from 229,048 vehicles. The recovery of these components involves the use of ELV or End of Life Vehicle recovery process as well as on-board deployment. The company reported that their recycling ratio for airbag related components reached a high of 94.3 percent. This means that they have far exceeded the 85 percent that they have set in the Nissan Green Program 2010.

As far as taking care of the fluorocarbons which are commonly found on the air conditioning unit of their vehicles is concerned, Nissan reported that they have collected 160,200 kilograms of fluorocarbons from 507,037 vehicles. These are then processed properly to ensure that it will not harm the environment.

All these recycling and recovery efforts cost Nissan 5,523,193,204 yen. While this may seem to be a big loss for the company, it is actually lower than the income generated which Nissan reported to be 5,642,113,359 yen. That means that the company is left with a net surplus of 118,920,115 yen.

With the current achievements by the car company, they have already exceeded the set standards by the government with time to spare. The company reported that they will continue their advances in recycling to reach 100 percent recycling. This means that 100 percent of the recovered ASR, airbag related components and fluorocarbons are utilized on new products. The Japanese car manufacturer also announced that they will be developing new technologies which will enable them to use recycled materials from End of Life Vehicles to new vehicles. The company is also aiming to make zero-landfill a possibility in Japan. The company will also be looking for ways to develop engineering steps to make vehicles easy to disassemble making easier to recycle them. This should be done in a way that the vehicle remains safe for everyday driving and especially safe from car thieves who are preying on any cars by stripping off various components.

With the increase in popularity of green cars such as gasoline-hybrid, plug-in and fully electric, and fuel cell vehicles, Nissan will be developing technologies to recycle these types of vehicles efficiently and effectively.

I think fitness training should start with the legs. You can start the warm up session with squats. Now place the bar with which your players can make 20 reps. Considering that they have good strength, hence give them 220 pounds to start with. This practice is performed by getting below the bar, and putting it across their upper back and then stand up with it.

Next tell them to stand having their shoulders and feet width apart. After that they must lower their body while holding on to the bar till their hips are a little bit below the top of their knee. In weight training soccer, after coming to this point the players should quickly stand up fully and breathe out. Encourage them to repeat this for 20 reps even when they are dead tired.

They should be given a break of 5-10 minutes before switching to the leg curl machine to work on hamstrings. They are required to perform 4 sets of 15 reps each. Now when the they are warmed up they must go on by including enough weights so that the next set of 10 reps is harder to do. They should continue with that weight for 5 sets of 10 repetitions total, while stretching their chest and shoulders, and resting for around 2 minutes between each set.

Now we move to the second workout of this session of soccer strength training which are the pull-up exercises. This exercise should be done with the palms facing their body so that their biceps and back can become strong. Finally the upper body exercises include abdominals and performing 5 sets of 20 or more reps of leg raises. The last in this work out are the crunches do 5 sets of 50 or more.

In short weight training soccer is only a small portion of the complete training program required to make great soccer players. With the threat of global climate change casting a dark cloud over the future of fossil fuels, engineers have turned increasingly to technologies that harness clean energy from renewable natural sources such as the sun, the wind, and the ocean. But while solar and wind power projects have taken off in recent years, the potential of Earth’s vast system of oceans has remained largely untapped.

And that potential is huge. The ocean produces three kinds of renewable energy: thermal, tidal, and wave. Ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) systems pump cold water up from the ocean’s depths to the sun-warmed surface, where the resulting heat exchange powers turbines that produce electricity. Tidal energy systems control the kinetic energy of the ocean, either with free-flow devices, which as their name implies convert tidal currents into energy without impeding their flow; or with tidal barrages, which trap water at high tide and later release it through turbines. Wave-based systems also take advantage of the ocean’s movement in this case, the incessant up-and-down bobbing familiar to anyone who has been on a small boat by channeling it through some type of device, usually made of concrete or steel, that is anchored near the shoreline and connected to a land-based generator.

Taken together, these three kinds of ocean-based power add up to an energy source that is both clean and unlimited. The main barrier to implementing them is not technological but economic: None of these systems can currently produce enough power at a low enough cost to make them competitive with their conventional rivals. Even wave energy technology, the most promising of the three, has not yet made much of an impact worldwide.

But the tide may be turning. The most recent evidence of this sea-change is a massive wave farm under construction off the coast of Portugal. Designed by a Scottish engineering firm, the project will use huge steel tubes, linked in parallel rows and anchored to the ocean floor. This system named “Pelamis” after the sea snake it resembles may eventually produce enough electricity to run 15,000 households. Although no one expects the wave farm to turn a profit any time soon, the Portuguese government has agreed to subsidize it as an investment in a greener future.

And Portugal is not alone: the United Kingdom and Spain reportedly have similar projects on the drawing board. Will the U.S., with its thousands of miles of coastline, follow suit? Only time and the tide will tell.

Having Fun At The Beach Is Easy With An All Weather Cornhole Set

When you buy all weather cornhole bags, you’re buying bags that are still the regulation size and weight, but that are filled with plastic pellets instead of corn. They are resistant to bugs, and they aren’t attractive to small animals that would chew on the original cornhole bags to try and get at the corn. Because they last longer they cost a little more but it’s definitely worth it when you don’t have to replace them all of the time. If you buy the standard cornhole bags instead of the all weather cornhole bags you’ll spend more in the long run.

The same is true for buying all weather cornhole boards. The original cornhole boards are made of wood and they are very sturdy, but they are heavy to move around. The all weather option for these boards is made from plastic. It’s the same regulation size, but it will handle the elements so much better because it doesn’t have any wood to warp or otherwise become damaged. That’s a great thing when you want to play near water or when you live in a very humid climate where just using the board and bags could cause them to become damaged. The cornhole game isn’t as much fun when you have to be super careful about where and when you play it because of the weather.

Most people will be aware if they are stung by a bee, since it will often leave a stinger behind. Mosquito bites usually will quickly become very itchy after being bitten. While some can try preventable measures, such as using home remedies for mosquitos, it’s not always an easy feat to accomplish. In some cases, some people may be severely allergic to bee stings, which can be life threatening. Mosquitoes often carry many diseases that one should be aware of as well, such as West Nile Virus.

People are so greedy, so desperate to have their every little wish fulfilled, so unable to wait, use less, spend less, live more simply that they are willing to forge ahead and leave the consequences to untold generations of the future who will have to pick up our mess. We can bury the radioactive leavings of our greed deep in a mountain’s foundation and hope that it won’t require us to look at it again for many lifetimes. We want a solution that doesn’t require us to change our lives one little bit.

While Americans are starting to make the mass move to more sustainable “greener” energies, the pendulum hasn’t swung far enough. More and more citizens have chosen to do the research, read the information and find the solutions, but it’s still not bad enough for everyone to jump on the bandwagon. As we find it harder and harder to make ends meet, more people are feeling the pinch. More folks are gasping at the price of basic necessities and as a result, are looking for answers. It’s a slow, slow process and most folks are being dragged into it kicking and screaming. The worst part of it is that the folks who need the burden eased the most are the least capable of doing so.

Ever look at the price of a hybrid? What do you think is parked in front of the minimum wage earner’s home? It’s not a Prius.
